Transaction Paths Path

Open Exchange

  • Not available.

Auction Packages

  • Vistar can bundle inventory across multiple media owners and venue types into a single deal ID.

  • All targeting should be applied via an auction package or PMP.

1:1 PMPs

  • Vistar can facilitate 1:1 deals with media owners, which take priority over other programmatic transactions.

  • Vistar or media owners can layer targeting tactics into a PMP deal ID to meet campaign needs.

All targeting should be applied via an auction package or PMP.

Audience targeting Path

Vistar offers pre-built audience segments from trusted data providers to extend your omnichannel strategy into DOOH.

  • Buyers can apply first- or third-party audiences through Vistar

  • Vistar's entire taxonomy is available through both Auction Packages and PMPs.

    • Custom audiences must pass a feasibility check via Vistar's data team (4-5 business days).

Measurement Path

Vistar offers a robust suite of measurement solutions that makes it easy to evaluate the impact of your campaign from awareness to sales lift and device ID passback.

To request a measurement study, please reach out to your Vistar representative.

  • All studies require a feasibility test and have varying minimums and costs.

  • Measurement studies and device ID passback vary by region and spend.

Creatives Path

Submitting creatives:

  • Display: Supported

  • Video: Supported for standard sizes only. Non-standard sizes may be transcoded by Google and may not be viable.

  • SSP-hosted dynamic creative: Supported

  • 3rd-Party Tags: Not supported. You must upload creative files directly into DV360.

  • HTML5: Not supported.

Creative specs:

Creative specs vary by media owner and screen. Vistar’s Deal Desk or the media owner can provide these during planning.

  • If needed, Vistar can assist with creative builds and/or resizing for DOOH.

Approvals and timelines:

  • Once the campaign starts bidding, a creative asset is automatically sent to the appropriate media owners' for manual review and approval. Creatives cannot be approved before Basis begins bidding.

  • Timelines vary by media owner, though most approvals occur the same day. Until approval is received, bids will  not serve.

  • All creative approvals are at the media owner’s discretion and are not guaranteed. Buyers are encouraged to contact the media owner prior to activation, particularly for sensitive categories.

Reporting Path

DV360 reporting

  • DV360 reporting has a “Digital Out of Home” predefined view.

  • Standard reporting is available. Use caution when interpreting these reports due to the intricacies of DOOH.

  • DV360’s geo-reporting is based on IP address, and is therefore not reliable for DOOH. Vistar’s geo-reporting is based on latitude and longitude information set by the publisher.

  • DV360 provides two impression reporting metrics for DOOH:

    • Publisher's Impressions are the publisher's estimated number of viewers per DOOH ad. Vistar calls this metric “impressions”.

    • Publisher CPMs are the cost per thousand impressions and calculated using the publisher impressions.

    • Served Impressions are the number of times an ad was shown on a screen. Vistar calls this metric “spots”

Vistar reporting

Vistar’s Deal Desk team can provide reporting on your campaign on request or set up automated reports sent to an email address of your choice. Reporting can include:

  • Metrics: Media cost, spots/plays, impressions, CPM

  • Dimensions: Media owner, advertiser, deal ID, venue type, venue ID, venue name, exact venue location and/or time (down to the hour)

FAQs Path

  • Targeting is not supported in DV360 for DOOH. Please ask Vistar or the media owner to layer on any targeting. Please check all layers of the campaign hierarchy for targeting.

  • Create a separate, DOOH-specific IO for your buy.

  • In the event that the IP address of the DOOH venue accurately reflects location, geo-targeting will work. However, it is never recommended to try to use it.

  • Unusual video sizes may not be supported by DV360 due to automated transcoding

  • DV360 does not respect video creative specs when bidding. Break out deals and line items in DV360 by width and height for more efficiency.

  • Refer to “publisher impressions” and “publisher CPMs” in DV360 for accurate impression and CPM information.
